John J. Harrison

Since becoming a Realtor in 1972, John J. Harrison has played a key role in the real estate industry and has been recognized for his contributions to the industry by his Local, State and National associations. Prior to joining GMAC Real Estate/Real Estate Service Center as one of four Owner/Brokers, Harrison was the Broker/Owner of Realty Executives/Main Street USA, a firm specializing in the listing and sale of single family homes, real estate investment, residential development and property management and Broker of the Harrison Company, Inc., a firm specializing in Property Management. Additional professional titles held include: Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Camp Springs and Waldorf and Broker/Owner of Realty World/HRRA. In addition, Harrison has purchased and renovated over 600 residential homes and several commercial buildings, successfully creating a business franchise in the State of Maryland.

Nationally, Harrison has served as a National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Director (1991-1995), and NAR Federal Taxation Committee (1993-1995). In addition, Harrison has been recognized by the National Association of REALTORS® as a recipient of the NAR Certificate of Merit, NAR RPAC Life Member Ten Times and NAR Golden “R” Member.

On a State level, Harrison has held the prestigious position of President of the Maryland Association of REALTORS® (MAR), 1996, and was recognized as Maryland Association of REALTORS®, REALTOR® of the Year in 1998. In addition, Harrison has served as Maryland Association of REALTORS® Director (1985-1995). Locally, Harrison has put his mark on the real estate industry through his extensive involvement with the Prince George’s County Association of REALTORS® by serving on numerous committees and having held the position of President of that association in 1994. In 1990, Harrison was recognized as the Prince George’s County Association of REALTORS®, REALTOR® of the Year.

Throughout his career, Harrison’s commitment to the community is not only evidenced through his professional achievements, but also reflected in his ongoing support of his local community. Among others, Harrison has been actively involved in the Prince George’s County Boys and Girls Club Program; Prince George’s County Christmas in April Program; Active participant with the Boy Scouts of America, Participant in Children’s Hospital Fundraisers and participant in Cancer Society Fundraisers.

Harrison, a native of Prince George’s County, is married to Iona Harrison, and has five children and four grandchildren.
